Open Question: Going away for work? Burden or Pleasure?

I have got to go to belgium next week for a work conference. Some people think it's glamorous for work to pay for trips away. I will enjoy it when I get there I am sure but I actually feel it's kinda lonely as I won't know anyone, I am in another country in a hotel room and know I sound like a saddo but I'll miss my hubby like crazy.
